Pumpkin’s Fight Against FIP

Donation protected
My 5 month old kitten Pumpkin who was adopted on October 4th was taken to the vet on December 10th and they had told me that she could either have cancer or FIP and that I would have to put her down immediately. They also told me that her kidneys were enlarged and she had no respiratory issues. Hearing that, I wanted a second opinion because I didn’t want to just go straight to euthanizing her. The second vet told me that she had pneumonia and her kidneys were not enlarged she was just so tiny that it felt as though they were enlarged. She also mentioned FIP but decided to treat her with toxoplasmosis. The medication for this did not work so we started prednisolone. After a week of trying it she began eating more and being more active, but is starting to lose feeling in her back legs/ has a neurological imbalance. The vet had called me about how the prednisolone was working but I told her that her legs are getting weaker so her last and final diagnosis is the dry form ofFIP and the treatment is around $2,500-$5000. I am a college student and in need of just sharing pumpkins story to try and get her the treatment before putting her down. She is the sweetest little bean and has been through the ringer but I swear she’s a fighter. The treatment is based off of her weight. She is currently 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg). She needs 100mg/kg, so she would need 150 mg per dose everyday for 84 days of treatment. It is a long and hard process and it is obviously pricey, but with the help of those around us we can help Pumpkin fight against FIP. If this treatment were to not work and she does not make it, I will be sending the money raised to other animals who are fighting FIP or to the shelter where she was adopted from.
