Pumpkin Puppy Surgery

Pumpkin Puppy showed up at Leavenworth Animal Control Shelter.   LAWS was notified by Shelter Staff that a vet had taken a look at Pumpkin and knew surgery was going to be required.  LAWS has learned in the last year, that an animal with a limp, is usually much more than just a limp.  In Pumpkin's case, major trauma occurred to his elbow joint.  Multiple x-rays at the vet and a consultation with a K State Orthopedic surgeon showed that the radius bone (big arm bone) wasn't even connected to his elbow joint!!!  The K State Ortho was "astounded" at the trauma in this elbow.  We hope to show x-rays soon.  Puppy underwent an amputation of his front leg today.  Exam and x-rays and consult were $289.  Today's surgery estimate was $600.  So, we are at $889 on Pumpkin's vet care.
