Pulverizing Preston's Pandas

Donation protected
Preston faces the everyday challenges of living with PANDAS (Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections) . In addition to PANDAS, he has Primary Immunodeficiency Disease (PDD). Preston is my 5 year old grandson who lives in TN. PANDAS is a neurological disorder caused by having strep multiple times over months and years. He had strep 14 times in 2017 alone. Consequently, his brain has been affected, causing him to have tics, OCD, extreme anxiety,  periods of rage and irrational fears, severe headaches, and a compromised immune system making it necessary for him to be at home most of the time. His mom has had to quit work to take care of him.

We are hoping that he will be able to go to school in the fall. Last month he had a round of immunotherapy that has helped some. Between the Occupational Therapy, nutritional supplements, and copays, the out-of-pocket expenses are expected to be roughly $2,000 a month. There are an undetermined number of months that Preston will have to have treatment from this point on. Because some of the treatment is experimental and TN doesn't recognize PANDAS as a verifiable medical condition (many states do), insurance payments, we have now learned, are going to be limited. Simultaneuously, my daughter Erin has rolled up her sleeves and gotten involved in the PANDAS network, which seeks to advocate for recognition and care for children like Preston  who are on a merciless roller coaster ride of being fine in the morning and having to be held down in the afternoon. It is sad and maddening.

As Preston's grandfather, I am asking you to consider donating now so that we can pull out all the stops and try every way we can in the world to stop this crazy disorder from continuing to wreak havoc on his life and on the world of his mom, dad, and two-year-old sister Caroline. With treatment, there is a pretty good chance that these symptoms can be stopped and the inflammation of his brain healed. They are a good family and they are loving Preston and one another with all of their hearts
Would you consider contributing to help Preston get the medical treatment he needs?
Your support would mean the world to them.
