Puerto Rico Will Rise Up Again

Nearly three weeks ago Hurricane Maria caused a historic and catastrophic event of natural destruction and chaos on my home land of Puerto Rico. Every semblance of normality was wiped away in a matter of hours by this enormous hurricane. To say that my people including my own family are in a humanitarian crisis currently, is an understatement. The death toll continues to climb everyday, the island's power grid is still not up and any help that has been dispatched to them has been reaching them slowly.
On November 2nd, 2017, I will be taking a trip to Puerto Rico with my brother Lem Tirado, my brother in-law Peter Stauffer and a few young men from his church, to help the neighborhood I grew up in to rebuild. We will be there for a total of 7 days and will do everything we can to help with the clean-up efforts and be a helping hand in the time of need. What was once a vacation destination will not be a humanitarian outreach and we want to be a part of those efforts.
Many of you have asked how you could help. I have created this donation drive through GoFundMe.com to raise funds that will help us purchase the supplies and materials we need to help those we come in contact with while we are there.
I am asking my friends, all that are on Facebook to help with whatever you can. I have never asked for help like this before however this is bigger than me or anyone who is helping. It doesn't have to be cash but because of the circumstances cash donations will be preferred. All of the funds we raise will be used 100% to building materials, food, water and support effort.
Currently my family is also requesting these items if we can help:
Water Filters
Protein Powder and Bars
Air Mattresses with Battery powered pumps.
Bug Spray
Hand sanitizers
Portable Chargers.
Hand washing boards (for laundry)
laundry detergent
Soap
Healthy Snacks
Children clothing
Toothpaste
Shampoo
Blankets
Wick Lamps
Non perishable food items
I will also be providing a link to a Facebook Page created by my sister-in-law Kari Davidson "Minnesota Helping the People of Puerto Rico", that will help you find a dropping center to donate clothing or non-perishable goods that will be shipped to Puerto Rico in the next couple of weeks. Currently the main drop off center is located at The Tin Cup Bar and Restaurant in St Paul owned by the amazing Gidget Bailey.
Together we will all help bring Puerto Rico back from this disaster. What we are doing is only a drop in the bucket but a bucket only gets full, one drop at a time. I know that there are some very good people in my network and I want to thank you in advance for your help and consideration.
