We're raising funds to buy a handicapped
accessible van.
The Mission has a 22 year old van that's on its last leg, no air and no heater. Also, it
doesn't transport our residents or
outreach who are in wheelchairs. It's a
daily occurrence for us to transport to the
social security office, the courthouse, the VA, church, etc. When we can't use the
van, it's a scramble to get transportation set up. It frustrates and embarrasses our
clients and makes them feel bad and it's
just rough.
We have great groups going on at the
Mission. Art Therapy, Music Therapy,
Mindfulness, Faith Studies, substance use groups and we have community clients
who can't get to us. Having reliable
mobile independence so we could bring
outsiders into what we're doing could
change everything in Pueblo.
We show movies outside on Friday nights and we barbecue too but many outreach
can't get to us. Again, a reliable shuttle
with handicapped access changes
everything for so many who need us.
