Sickle cell research

Donation protected
As many of you will get in a couple of days the annoying pop up that says send Susana a message for her birthday. Birthdays always make me sad. Of course the older I get the more melancholy I get during this birthday month. I couldn’t tell you why but they do so this year, I wanted to share with you a gift of hope in many ways. I am always one to say pay it forward; I am aware the world needs this often, and I know times are hard  financially. I want to tell you of a story. One of a girl who is in every study that she can be in when it concerns sickle cell disease. She is often asked the familiar question; “why put yourself through extra testing?” Her response every time is “ it may not help me but it will help others in the future and hopefully one day they will not feel the pain that my body feels.” It has been two years  since we have moved to UIC and it has been a rebirth literally. I was contemplating saying no I shouldn’t  start this go fund me page for this purpose and as I arrived home today I had to rush my daughter in to the ER. This is what made me do this go fund me page even more. My purpose is to donate the funds to UIC medical research for further research in sickle cell disease, a cause close to my heart. As many of you have followed our ups and downs through her 15 years of life, many of you close to me have also seen our changes and devastating losses we have had over the years. At age thirteen, she was faced with another challenge of having to undergo a hip arthodesis due to another devestating effect of sickle cell disease as she is now faced with avoscular necrosis. The only way this disease can be studied is through research. I was hoping for the doctor to give me the direct foundation that it can be placed under so I am starting the fund and as the information comes in you will all be notified or you will know exactly where the hard earned money you have donated has gone too and what it will help with to further education in research for the disease. Please share and please even if it’s a dollar that you give it will help I set the limit at 4000 was going to set it at 1000. But my mother used to always say  never underestimate your worth! So can we raise more than a 1000 hopefully if we get to 4000 it will make us happy and if it goes past 4000 it will bring hope to someone suffering from this chronic illness. I know I am asking for a lot but those of you that know me personally know that if I have one dollar left and you need it I will give it with no hesitation. So please find it in your heart to make a difference for the research of this devastating disease . I ask my fabulous friends and family to share and get the movement going for the further researcch for this illness. This is Elizabeth’s favorite quote
