Chromebooks for students

Donation protected
I am a teacher in Baltimore City. We are doing distance learning for at least the next month and maybe beyond until it is safe to return to in person learning. While the city has been able to provide Chromebooks to most of our students, our school has run out of devices to distribute. I’ve just become aware that my students who most need access have not received a computer. These students are in foster care and homeless shelters. Their address and contact information changes frequently and they didn’t get the notification to go and pick up a device in late August. None of that is their fault. Now we’re a week in to school and they are lost. If you’ve ever shown up late to a meeting and found yourself struggling to catch up, multiply that feeling by 10 and square it. That’s how these students feel right now. If these students get left behind in middle school, their chances of graduation from high school (and by extension, college) become vanishingly small. In addition, even when we do return to in person learning, having access to a computer will benefit these students more than you can understand. I’ve identified 5 students from my classes who desperately need access to a computer and I’ve found several used chromebooks for around $150 online. I’ve purchased 2 chromebooks myself, but I have limited resources. If you can spare $5 or even $10 ($50 if you’re feeling rich this month ) to support my students, I would appreciate it so much.
