On Sunday, November 24, 2024, an unknown assailant shot my cat with a metal, hollow-point pellet; clearly with the intention of killing him. He gets away with attempted murder, while I am left paying the price.
My cat came home that morning bleeding profusely from a wound on his side. When I couldn't get the bleeding to stop, I rushed him to the emergency animal hospital in Louisville. They cleaned the wound, took an x-ray, gave him a shot of antibiotics, and applied some pain medicine. $1200 later, I was informed that it appeared as tho he was targeted by someone that clearly intended to kill him (because of the type of ammunition used), but that he was "very lucky" because it missed his heart and his lungs. Which got me thinking: I have another cat that went missing on November 2nd, which is highly unlike her to not come home; what are the odds that something unrelated happened to both of my cats only a few weeks apart? I feel that it is highly unlikely for that to be the case. What I think happened, is that my other cat wasn't so "lucky", which breaks my heart to think about. Why would someone target my cats with the intention to kill them?! If they were bothering you somehow, why not come talk to me about it? Whatever happened to being "neighborly"?
Thankfully, my injured cat is now home and on his way to a speedy recovery; yet him and I both remain extremely traumatized from the event; and because I have no proof of who did this cruel act, I cannot take legal action against him as he deserves, nor am I able to seek restitution; so I am left to pay the price for this person's cowardly act of animal abuse while he, quite literally, gets away with murder. It's not right.
I created this gofundme because I cannot afford to pay the $1200 veterinarian bill on what little money I earn. I work part-time with Instacart just to keep gas in my car while I try to find full-time employment. So I am pleading for assistance from anyone that is able to do so, no matter how much or how little, any little bit will help and is greatly appreciated. God bless.
