We, the staff, and students at the Pennsylvania School of the Performing Arts (PSPA), humbly request your support during this uniquely challenging time.

WHO WE ARE:
The Pennsylvania School of the Performing Arts (PSPA) is celebrating 25 years of excellence in performing arts dance training.  We are a strong and steady asset to our Bucks County community.  We serve area children, ages three to eighteen with professional instruction and guidance towards careers in the performing arts.

In addition to arts training, PSPA has a long history of outreach. Through the years, PSPA/SIMBT has operated fundraising events in support of organizations including The Philadelphia Children’s Hospital, Come to Unity, building wells in Africa, and continued developmental sponsorship helping African girls in the completion of their high school education.  It is our place to use our resources to help others and our sincere hope to continue this tradition of uplift and giving.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED:
Initial pandemic shutdowns in March of 2020 reduced our tuition-based income stream by 100%.  Lost was our ability to generate show/special event income so important to carry the business through the summer months.  When allowed limited re-opening this past autumn, government mandates reduced our capacity to less than 20% of our normal student base and income stream. During this time our overhead and expenses have continued in-full.  Lease, utility, insurance, and other necessary expenses continue at 100% without subsidy.

OUR OUTLOOK:
PSPA is a well-respected and firmly established regional arts organization. We know our business, we know our community and we feel certain that we will thrive again following this period of pandemic, fear, and uncertainty.  To do so, we need financial assistance to bridge the gap.

We have used all resources available to us to keep a roof over our head, bills paid and our wonderful instructors employed, but it's getting harder every day.

WHAT WE ARE DOING:
In order to re-open safely, we made many physical and procedural upgrades including new HEPA air purification systems, new sound audio systems, computers, and video equipment (for virtual learning) in all of our classrooms. We’ve also had to drastically reduce the in-studio capacity for each of our classes, which in turn, has significantly impacted our enrollment levels this year (You can learn more about all we’ve done to keep our students and faculty healthy and safe this year click here ).

Most importantly, we are attempting to reach terms for lease assistance.

WHAT WE NEED:
We need your help to keep our dance home. The funding support we are requesting will go directly to cover past due and future rent (for the short-term). Our landlord is asking for past rents deferred during shutdowns. Just as momentum was returning and there appeared a light at the end of the tunnel, this latest, the second round of government-mandated shutdowns is especially hard on us.  Again, business expenses including overhead, utilities, and insurance continue in-full and unsubsidized.

We have faith that our wonderful community is behind us. There is so much passion, commitment, and hard work that goes on within these walls every day and over the past 25 years.

We thank you wholeheartedly for taking the time to listen to our story and for any amount of support you can provide.

We wish you safety and good health this year, and always.
