Welcome to the Brooklyn New School Band GoFundMe project!!
An incredible thing is happening in our public elementary school in Brooklyn. Every Tuesday afternoon, at 610 Henry Street, 114 trumpeters, drummers, violinists, clarinetists, flutists, saxophonists, trombonists, and guitar players gather together to learn how to blow, strum and play their instruments. The enthusiasm is infectious. The noise-level is, well, high. The pride and joy of children learning to make music together is incalculable.
The Brooklyn New School Band has been formed from scratch this year. This has taken a huge amount of blood, sweat, hopefully-no-tears and yes, MONEY. The program costs $70,000 to provide musical instruction for all of the children in the Band for an entire school year. This money covers instrument rental, teacher salaries and administrative expenses.
The Brooklyn New School is providing this incredible musical experience to ANY child who wants to participate, regardless of their family's ability to pay. No child is turned away.
Currently, half of our Band families are receiving full or partial scholarships. We need your help so that we can continue to provide this amazing musical experience to ALL of the children in the Band. Your generous support ensures that the magic of music is available to all....
