PS 261 5th Grade Supply List

Our 5th grade classes are dynamic environments that foster inquiry based learning. We believe that all students should have equal opportunities to explore and create rich academic experiences. In order to accomplish our work, we ask that all students have the same materials to learn & grow together. As a learning community, we decided it is important for us to share all the supplies. This teaches kids to have a sense of ownership over their community and understand the power of supporting each other's learning.

Suggested Family Donation: We suggest that each 5th grade family donate $80 per child, which is significantly less than the cost of a supply list, to cover their family's cost of supplies. This will ensure that you will not have to buy supplies in the Fall just a few personal items. If you would like to donate more to sponsor another family, feel free to donate more money.

Personalized School Items to buy: All you need to bring on the 1st day of school is... Pencil case, hand held pencil sharpener (Feel free to add a pack of colored pens to your pencil case to make your writer’s notebook fun!), a pack of special personal pencils & pens, and a spell checker
