The Prairie Dog massacre that took place in Castle Rock Colorado was a terrible tragedy for the prairie dog families we have grown to know and love. The people of Castle Rock that witnessed this atrocity have been heart broken and deeply devoted to making systemic long term changes that will protect prairie dog colonies in our, and others', communities into the future.
Part of this process is a petition we are circulating for a referendum on the zoned planning amendments that pave the way for the prospective Promenade mall. The referendum will give the people of Castle Rock the ability to decide if they want this development company, who just slaughtered in the cruelest way imaginable thousands of prairie dogs, to continue their development of the largest commercial property in the history of the town.
The necessary actions needed to ensure success require finances that will create the essential beginning steps to ensure the continued and protected survival of prairie dogs. The example in Castle Rock has the opportunity to cast a far-reaching message to all future developers that have prairie dog colonies on the land they plan to develop.
We thank you for your continued support of our efforts.
