POWER THE MOVEMENT!
Portland Rising Tide is part of an international, all-volunteer, grassroots network of groups and individuals who organize locally, promote community-based solutions to the climate crisis and take direct action to confront the root causes of climate change.
For almost a decade we have been stopping Coal, Oil, Gas with a combination of Direct Action and community organizing.
But like you, we feel like its always a bit weird when our rallies or actions are powered by gas. We want to Break Free!
This May, tens of hundreds will be converging for Break Free at the Anacortes Oil Refinery. When we go there with our friends and allies, we want to make sure that we have our own power from renewable sources.
When we come home we want to make sure that other groups have access to that same power, a for a small fee to those who can pay, and free to all in need.
And when crisis occurs, we will be able to power our community.
All money will be used to get the equipment for this project. Panels will be bought from Hillsboro and every effort will be made to get donated or used equipment. Extra funds will allow more panels and more battery power.
We need these funds ASAP!!! We are deploying this the second week of May so we need to get cooking soon!
This is more than just helping power one event, this is a way to show that we can Break Free from fossil fuels and power the movement!
