We are a Church located in the heart of Mayagüez, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, declared as a state of emergency after Hurricane María.  We are currently serving our community and planning to expand our reach to those affected in remote locations that are not receiving help.

(Changing the roof of the house of an old woman, before the Hurricane.)
(She already passed away; her name was María.)
(We've been working hard before the Hurricane; now we want to work even harder.)

For the people at Río Caña, we were the first help they received in their neighborhood.

After the Hurricane María, many families lost everything, others are sharing the same house with little space; potable water is scarce... as Vox states it: "There’s still little power on the island. In many places there’s still no water to drink or bathe in or to flush toilets. There’s limited food and cell service, and dozens of remote villages have been completely cut off from everything for weeks."  Also, as New York Times points out slow response from the Government.

Also, as commercial activity and other activities such as tourism are paralyzed, the government's main sources of income are paralyzed as well, which provokes a reduction in the government’s capital liquidity, jeopardizing the payment of public officials, the ones who are working on alleviating the streets and infrastructure of our country (see here for more information ).

Nationwide losses round up to US$300,000 million  due to the floods, landslides, affecting the infrastructure of the island (electricity, acueduct, communications, households, commerce, etc.); also, collapsed roads, in particular those on the countryside at the center of the island; collapsed roads and other obstacles such as fallen trees and electrical lines limit the access of all kinds of supplies.  Right now, there is no way to communicate with people in Jayuya, Las Marías, Maricao, the countryside of Añasco, and most of the towns that are not on the coast; unless you travel by car or use a helicopter. In this towns, for example, pharmacies are not offering prescription drugs because there is no internet system to process such transactions; banks are offering limited amounts of cash and the markets are not accepting card payments for the same reason pharmacies are not processing transactions; the trucks that carry fuel are not arriving to recharge the gas stations, mostly because of the collapsed roads and landslides... most people lack gas to travel to the main cities on the coast; supermarkets supplies are scarce; communication companies are not working... HELP US HELP THEM! We want to get to these places where the help is not arriving.

Our work up to this moment:
Currently,  with our supplies, we are feeding around 400 people a month at Hostal Getsemaní, a shelter for homeless men, Café con Dios, a service we offer for the homeless (and anyone that arrives) at our facilities, and every Sunday service to everyone that comes.

However, NOW our goal is to to feed over 200 DAILIES.

How we will use the financial aid? (Our Mission)
We will buy food, water, clothing, first aid and hygene articles and bring these to people in need.  We will also help rebuild shelters, houses and any other structures necessary to bring back our community to normal living.

Our Vision is to serve those that have been most affected by the Hurricane by bringing physical and spiritual support through the Gospel of Christ that gives us hope and moves us to action.
