Providing therapy to Ukrainian Refugee Children
Donation protected
My name is Ryan Hutchins, and my good friend Aleksandra and her family are a Ukrainian family living in Poland, currently working around the clock as they have begun accepting many refugee families to their property. They are doing their best to create a normal, safe and nurturing environment for the many children present.
It has been called a ‘Ukrainian house’ and is aiming to be a friendly place where children and mothers can integrate, educate, relax and find support. As of April, only 1600 children refugees have been signed up for schools in Lublin. They do not speak Polish, they are anxious and traumatised. Our goal is to give them tools to manage the situation and go through tough times.
We want to organise:
-Group therapy through theatre and art held by professionals
-Therapeutical and Relaxing fairy tales reading for children and mothers held by actors
-Art and handcraft workshops
-Art classes
-Play and integration workshops
-Library and reading room
-Mini cinema
We managed to organise an office (free of charge), but still need to raise funds for:
-Teachers/ Therapists/Actors’ salaries (most of them will be refugees themselves)
-20 sensorics poufs
-2 sets of foam furniture
-didactic materials for classes
-ad hoc tasks and covering first aid needs of people coming to the clubhouse.
