Providing aid to my student’s family after tragedy

This is one of my student’s award-winning images, she is an amazingly strong young woman full of talent and potential. She is one of my best students, and her father recently suffered a major and tragic health emergency which landed him in the ICU for nearly 4 weeks. He has undergone several surgeries and was not expected to survive. He has recently been released from the hospital although he must learn to walk and care for himself all over again. He was the provider for the family and now his wife is now his primary caregiver. The older sibling is away at college and my student is trying to balance school, college preparedness and assisting mom with her dad’s health needs. I would like to deliver the family some holiday relief, a meal for Christmas and a few small Christmas gifts for mom, dad, the older sibling and my student to provide them a small sense of normalcy this year since their holidays surely will not be the same.
