Provide for Pilot Daniel Turner’s Medical Journey

Donation protected
On February 2, 2020, Daniel Turner was in a plane crash near the Fremont County Airport in Canon City, Colorado. Daniel was airlifted to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, then to University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. Every bone in Daniel’s face is broken, including his jaws. He also has missing teeth. Ligaments in Daniel’s neck are damaged, requiring him to be in a neck brace for six weeks. Reconstructive facial surgery is scheduled for Monday, February 10, and is estimated to take 6 - 8 hours. Eventually, he will need speech therapy. At this point, Daniel is able to respond by raising his hands, shaking his head and giving a “thumbs up.” He likely will be in the hospital for quite some time and then he will be in rehab.

Danny and Sherry Turner (Daniel’s parents) were quickly on the scene of the accident and traveled directly to Penrose first, and then U of C Hospital in Denver, as Daniel was transported. The Turners had no essential traveling necessities with them, including clothes, toiletries, etc. They are making due, but find themselves in this unexpected time of extra financial burden. To cover bills not covered by insurance, and the daily financial needs of being in Denver, away from their home in Fremont County for an undetermined amount of time, any bit of help will greatly assist them at this time.

What was to be 1 surgery has turned into 3, with some minor surgeries to be performed in the future including more facial surgery, bone grafts in his mouth, and dental work. Daniel’s stay will also include therapy and rehab. It’s still undetermined how long the Turners will be in Denver for Daniel’s ongoing hospitalization.
