Everything Lost in a House Fire

Donation protected
Randy, Gene, and Xavian lost everything in a house fire - after allegedly being threatened by their neighbors.

Randy has a filed a civil rights lawsuit against 9 residents of Blaine County, Oklahoma.  His attorneys are aware of this fundraiser.

Randy says, "We could never have imagined the hate & bigotry we found in rural Oklahoma. I chose to save our 3 dogs over possessions because they were family. They may have taken our life possessions but we still have our FAMILY. We want to thank the family & friends we have yet to meet for their love & sharing. Our son says he knows now that not everyone hates."

Prior to the fire, Gamel alleges he was accosted by one of the town's trustees at a 2016 town board meeting.  This occurred just one month after he moved to Hitchcock, OK.

About his son, Gamel-Medler told NBC News, “…a town trustee had seen him in the yard and asked if he was our son. She said to me, 'What are you going to do when your house burns down and we don't send out the firetrucks?'"

The father also recalled an incident a few weeks before the fire, when a man named in the lawsuit allegedly attempted to enter his car. When he locked the door, the man shook his truck and said, "You f-----g queer, I’m going to grab your little boy, rip his n----r head off and sh-t down his throat."

A fire later burned his family's home to the ground, and no criminal action has been taken.  Rick Edsall, mayor of Hitchcock and Tony Almaguer, sheriff of Blaine County are named in the lawsuit.

Everything was lost in the fire. This family is starting over. The lawsuit will be costly, and their son starts his new school in a few weeks.

The family needs us!
