Skyler Adoption Fund

Donation protected
My name is Mike Allred. My wife is Rebekah. We are attempting to raise funds to adopt Skyler. Skyler is our daughter, and we are her Mommy and Daddy, but we badly want Skyler to legally be a part of our family and to have our last name. Let me tell you a little about our situation, and it will become clear that we not only want her to be our's legally, but we are trying to protect her.

In 2011 Rebekah worked for a local non-profit that house women who are pregnant, have chldren, are homeless and/or are addicted to drugs and alcohol. She met a woman who was pregnant and in her first trimester. They became close over the next several months. The woman had no family in our part of the country. The woman asked Rebekah to be her birthing coach. Rebekah agreed to help her with the delivery. So when the time came, Rebekah was there, and had the incredible oppotunity to welcome Skyler to the world, and also had the priviledge of cutting her umbilical cord. Little did we know that this would not only be a nessecary medical procedure, but a profound symbol of disconnecting her from the person who gave birth to her.

Well they brought Skyler home from the hospital a few day's later, and things gradually started to change. We begin to see less and less of the women, until one day we recieved word that she had been arrested.  We know now, that she was a wanted  fugitive from another state. She sent Skyler to the baby-sitter's, and while she was at the baby- sitter's, the Federal Marshalls arrested the woman. So Skyler was at the baby-sitter's, and we had no idea where or how to reach anyone. After a few days of praying and begging God to help this baby.  We recieved a collect call from jail. It was the woman. she told us where we could find Skyler, so we went and picked her up. That was in January of 2012. Skyler turned four years old this month. She has been in our home for over four years . The woman was sentenced to several years in prison. She was  released in December of 2014, after serving three years. It is our concern that the woman will damage the progress that has been made, over a period of years. The conditions that this precious child endured, are something that can't be expressed in a few lines. Skyler has adjusted very well, after years of love and assurance that she will never be left alone. We want to make it clear that our  only intentions are the best interests of Skyler. We believe in forgiveness and pray daily for Skyler's birth Mom and her other two girls that have also been adopted by a loving woman in Michigan, many years ago. We only want to give Skyler a loving, stable home.

We meet every need of this precious baby. She is our whole world, but this is really not about us. It is about protecting Skyler. We just can't afford the legal expense to complete the adoption process. Anything, that anyone could give, would be greatly appreciated. If you can't help financially, we ask that you please pray. Please share and re-post.

I have shared only a few details about this situation. I understand that someone may need more information, before making a decision on whether or not to part with their hard earned money. You can inbox me at [email redacted].
