Protective shields for health workers

Currently New York is the epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic, with healthcare workers all over the city already experiencing severe shortages of PPE (personal protective equipment).
Driven by equal parts despair and desire to help, artist Luba Drozd has begun creating plastic face shields on her 3D printers at home (using design prototypes published by Prusa company).
In just one day - on Monday, March 23 - Luba was able to create 12 protective shields, which she delivered to Montefiore emergency room (the Bronx) and a hospital in Harlem.
These shields are already being used by health workers - and they are asking for more. Many more.
The COVID-19 epidemic in New York is unfolding far more rapidly than expected, and every shield, every bit of help we can extend to those on the frontlines of this battle will help.
Luba is dedicated to creating more shields at home, with the goal of 20+ a day (possibly more as we explore quicker methods of production). The shields are disinfected prior to handoff, and health workers also disinfect them prior to and in between uses, ensuring safety.
Every single dollar you donate will be used for making these protective shields: purchasing 3d printer filament and Duralar acetate sheets from which the shields are constructed, plus auxiliary equipment such as bags, bands, glue, and other supplies.
