We Need Your Help!

As many of you know, we have had temporary physical custody of my son Kyle since May 2013. Through the diligent work of a Police Officer, Child Protective Services and his oldest half-sister, we have been blessed to have him living full-time under our roof.

We have fought a hard (and expensive) battle to be with him since we were living in Virginia and allowed his mother to relocate with him to Washington under the guise of giving him and her other kids a better life, since they would have her parent's home to live in. Once she got to Washington we had to fight for every opportunity to see him, and sometimes would go a month or more without even talking with him. Unbeknownst to us, she had gotten three DUIs (at least one with Kyle in the car), and there were numerous other issues. In 2009 we received a military transfer to the closest base in California, and in 2012 I took military retirement at 21 years so we could move to Washington to be near him. Things were still difficult even after being here in Washington as she still tried to control the time we did and did not have him. Then events occurred that we never could have imagined.

On the 6th of May 2013, we received a call around 11 pm (by his oldest half-sister) to come to Kyle's rescue and get him away from their mother who had hit him! You can only imagine how we felt. We instructed his sister to call 9-1-1 and report the incident while we hurried over to get him. Once Kyle was in our possession, we brought him home and he has been with us ever since. Many other things came to light that we cannot put in writing here, but would be happy to share with you individually.

We have been taking Kyle to see counselors, as he exhibits signs of PTSD from all the traumatic experiences he went through. We have been in and out of both Municipal and Superior courtrooms ensuring that his mother will not be allowed to gain custody ever again. The municipal court put in place a no-contact order through 2017 (when Kyle turns 18) but our parenting plan is handled through the Superior Court which can override the municipal court.

Due to all the visits in and out of courts and the costs associated with the legal system our trust funds with the attorney have been completely depleted. We have used all savings and maxed-out credit cards. Our attorney said that the trial will cost another $4,000.00 and potentially up to $8,000.00 if we need to bring in expert testimony.

We come to you all asking for your help in this time of need in the form of donations. We are only days away and are desperate in reaching our goal. Whatever you can afford is greatly appreciated.

NOTE: If you would like to know more detail about the history of this case, please call us or let us know by email and we would be glad to share our journey with you.

God has worked in such miraculous ways that He deserves all the glory.

God bless,
Hans, Tammy and Kyle
