Protect Ossining's Drinking Water

Donation protected
Please help protect the drinking water for 30,000 Ossining residents. Without requiring an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) The Town of New Castle just gave a developer (the MSAF group, LLC) the green light to dynamite above the silver mines that sit directly above the Indian Brook Reservoir, which supplies the drinking water of 30,000 Ossining residents. Abandoned silver mines are known to contain mercury, lead and arsenic. These chemicals were used to remove the silver 150+ years ago, and when the mines were abandoned, the chemicals were not removed. It is imperative that a study and remediation be done to ensure no child or adult gets sick.

Concerned citizens in Ossining and New Castle requested an EIS, but the New Castle ZBA arrogantly ignored the request. Thus, a handful of concerned citizens are filing an Article 78 (law suit) to ask a judge to reverse this decision and require a full Environmental Impact Study to ensure the reservoir, which sits directly below the site, will not be contaminated with chemicals from the mine.

If we can get just 500 people donate just $25, we can appeal the ZBAs decision and protect the drinking water of 30,000 families. Remember, we are not saying don’t build. We are simply requiring a study that will guarantee that what happened in Flint, Michigan, doesn’t happen here.

Please share with your friends and family who believe everyone's drinking water should be protected.
