The largest Black-owned restaurant in Oakland was ROBBED TWICE IN 48 HOURS during Oakland’s Restaurant Week!
Everett & Jones Jack London Square is known for its legendary Bar-b-Que, but it might be better known for being a community institution that includes hiring the formerly incarcerated, offering affordability to host special events, serving as a community meeting place, and feeding the homeless every single night.
When legendary businesswoman and community leader Dorothy King passed her Restaurant down to her daughters, after passing away during the middle of the pandemic, they knew that there would be challenges recovering from such a devastating loss; compounded by a monumental natural disaster.
The community is up in arms that one of its most cherished and respected institutions would be targeted and attacked by thieves.The incident has cost losses and damages exceeding $15,000.
“We have worked so hard to continue the dreams of our mother (Dorothy King) by serving our community and giving to those most in need, so, to have this happen to us is very painful. We Love Oakland and don’t blame Oakland, but, we do want whoever did this to know that you will not break our spirit and we will ALWAYS serve Oakland and its most vulnerable citizens” said the owners - sisters Dorcia, Kenya, Dottie and Nina.

Our goal is to raise at least $15,000 to recover what was lost, plus much as we can in addition to help Everett and Jones Jack London upgrade its internal and external security.
