Promote female education& local organic agriculture in Ghana
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cynthia.
I am a German resident with Ghanaian roots and i founded the Farmtastic project in Ghana in 2022.
The project aims to empower rural women to be able to make a proper living through agriculture.
To reach this goal, we are..
1) ..giving out microcredits to landowners in form of a number of broiler chicks plus the necessary feed, equipment and vaccinations. After rearing the chicks to maturity the women can either sell them theirselves or back to us which offers them a broader access to markets that are out of their rural areas. Better markets, better prices. Every woman can repeat the process as often as she pleases or be a regular partner and also gets a training in poultry, financial management and marketing.
2).. giving out scholarships to young girls for university courses in the agricultural departmens such as meat processing, lifestock management, crop science or agricultural management. This is to help establish the future agriculturists and to show the youth the business opportunities in that area.
Scholarships include semester fees, housing, food and some pocket money so the scholars don't have to work and can focus on learning.
3).. hire female workers on our farm in Juaben in the Ashanti region of Ghana. At the farm we are rearing broiler chicken as well with a current capacity of 10000 chicks. The farm is also the opportunity for our outgrowers to come and learn before they get started or for the scholars to get some hands-on experience. Also, we are trying different protein sources in our chicken feed to reduce the cost of feed which forces many small and medium farmers to close down.
Your donation goes into scholarships, microcredits and the expansion of the farm to create more jobs.
