<div><strong>94% of women experience symptoms of PTSD following the first two weeks after their sexual assault (National Center for PTSD). </strong><br /><br />My name is Jessica Senquiz, and I am the writer and director of Promise to Stronger Days. This film is a social-impact drama short surrounding the story of a young woman of color, Adira, grappling with her PTSD symptoms due to sexual trauma in the wake of new budding relationships. This film follows two storylines: one of Adira's life in college discovering new relationships, and the other of her traumatic past creeping back. Adira grapples with the guilt of her trauma, which is a common experience for survivors.

<div>The inspiration for this film is my own story as a survivor of sexual assault and someone who currently struggles with PTSD every day. This film aims to capture the nuances of guilt, grief, and revenge that survivors may feel both about themselves and their perpetrators.<strong> </strong>Our goal is to de-stigmatize PTSD for survivors of sexual assault because this large-scale phenomenon of female PTSD survivors is hardly ever discussed in media.
