Help Our Mom Walk Again!

Hi everyone,
We're Sam and Maria Elena Perez, and we really need your help. Our mother Rosemarie Perez is the greatest mom in the entire world. Full of life and extremely independent, our mom is our super mom. Every day, we aspire to be as strong and as loving as she is.
In 1997, Rosemarie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Because we were really young when she was first diagnosed, we didn't understand the effects this disease would have on our mom. Sadly enough, we started to see a lot of changes in our super mom. Due to the MS, Rosemarie developed foot drop, a general term for difficulty lifting the front part of the foot. It has caused her to lose mobility in her right leg, and she cannot walk without the help of a cane or walker. Even with all the physical therapy and different medication, this disease is slowly taking away our mother.
Watching your mother live with this disease is extremely difficult. Because it's difficult for her to walk, she never wants to leave the house and has missed out on a lot in our lives. We can never take her to do mother-daughter things, like shopping or getting our nails done. She wasn't able to teach us how to drive, or go on long trips. But, as hard as it was to not have her around to do those things with us, having our mom watch us do those things without her was much harder.
Last month, we were given some hope. Our father came across a company called Bioness, which offers medical devices to people who have drop foot due to diseases like MS, Cerebral Palsy and spinal cord injuries. These incredible devices use Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) to help people regain mobility. During a free trial run session at New York University on July 16, 2014, Rosemarie walked for the first time in 6 years without a cane or a walker. The Bioness device gave her back some independence again, and we saw our super mom come to life again. Being able to see her so happy because she could walk again was a miracle. Unfortunately, because our insurance cannot pay for the expenses, we can't afford the device.
This broke our hearts. How can anyone put a price on someone's freedom to walk again?
But, this is where you guys come in. We need your help in raising $11,000 to get this device for our mother. There is nothing we would want more than to see our mom happy again. Even with the MS, she has given us and taught us so much. Now that we're older, and have seen her suffer for 17 years with this terrible disease, we want to help her and give her the happy, independent life she truly deserves. So please, give what you can.
