India Project Serve

Donation protected

I am reaching out to you with an open heart. For months I have been planning and anticipating a service trip to India with Dr. C.V. Vadavana, a respected leader in India. The vision of this project is to capture and create sustainable impact for marginalized people in India, specfically the Maulsm tribe in NorthEast India.

By July 12th, a passionate team of us will be flying into Kolkota visiting the slums and teaching youth, then flying to Agarthala to work with the Maulsm village until July 25th.

The Maulsm tribe has no literacy rate, poverty and lack of access to educational institutions are the major reasons. There are 275 families in this tribe and they live in dilapidated houses made of wood and bamboo with no protection from wild animals or effects of nature. Their houses are basically a single room space with cooking done on one end and the whole family sleeps on the mud thatched or bamboo floor at the other end. There are no proper toilets or sanitation facilities in these villages and these unsanitary conditions have often led to the spread of fatal diseases and as a result, the death rate among this tribe is very high.
Like most worthwhile endeavors, this trip requires financing. The base cost of $3,500 covers the travel exspenses.
This is a challenging, no frills trip but I'm a big believer in the power of community and collaboration. With your generosity and support, we have the ability to provide support, empowerment and hope. I'm learning that the beauty of life is in creating opportunities, learning how to be self-less, and living without fear. Generosity must be fearless because it's vulnerable.

With kindest appreciation,

"I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same. People will never know how far a little kindness can go."
-Rachel Joy Scott

"The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
