Help save Project Respect!

Project Respect is a support service for women in the sex industry, including women trafficked to Australia, and their children. Women we support face stigma, discrimination and isolation, which makes it difficult for them to access mainstream essential services.

"Ruby" was forced into the sex industry by a violent partner, who threatened to expose her involvement in the sex industry if she didn't give him the money she earned. He then left her with three children, pregnant and, no other source of income. "Ruby" was too scared to access other services, so she turned to us. We linked "Ruby" in to essential services, and when the time came, supported her to leave the industry into another form of employment.

"Siti" was trafficked into the Australian sex industry. We met her during our regular outreach to brothels. We were the only support service available to her, as she was ineligible for any government support. We assisted her with housing in our shelter, access to immigration, and linked "Siti" in with mental health services including trauma recovery. "Siti" is now doing well, lives safely in the Australian community and still tells us we were the only ones there when she had nowhere else to turn.  

These are the women we support. As an organisation, we have worked alongside women like "Siti" and "Ruby" for more than 17 years. 

Project Respect is at great risk of closing our doors permanently, and this will mean women will fall through the cracks of the social welfare system.

We are seeking donations from our amazing community of supporters, and any new friends we might make through this campaign. We need $60,000 to keep Project Respect afloat to provide additional critical time for us to advocate to government for sustainable funding to continue our important work.
