Project Joy Bomb is a series of socially-distanced, art-based activations throughout Colorado, with the goal to boost morale, encourage social mask-wearing, and help make staying at home a little more enjoyable. We are working with community leaders, neighborhood associations and city officials to bring responsible, safe and joyful celebrations to people in need. We are also partnering with multiple organizations to pair Joy Bomb events with PPE delivery, food donation pickup and mental health breaks for first responders and healthcare workers.
Our company, Handsome Little Devils, is in a unique position to innovate socially-distanced art and entertainment, as we have been creating mobile performances and kinetic artworks for years.

Why should we Joy Bomb?
Things are tough out there right now. Many people have lost their jobs, are uncertain about the future and remain isolated as we remain under various restrictions for the health of the community.
Stress, anxiety and depression are compounded by being unable to connect physically and a severe lack of play. Project Joy Bomb is ready to deploy to communities in need.
What is a Joy Bomb? Joy Bombs can take many forms, and we work with community leaders to ensure we bring the right kind of Joy Bomb to each community or organization. A Joy Bomb might be a social-distance parade experienced from front porches and balconies. It might be an art scavenger hunt in a neighborhood. It might be a balcony-based workout at a senior living community. Or it might be a fine artist or solo musician parked outside a hospital, nursing home or shelter to provide a quieter, more soothing mental health break.
We organize based on the needs of the community and the safety of all involved.
What else can a Joy Bomb do? Besides providing an opportunity to laugh, smile together or meditate on the creation of an artwork, supporting a Joy Bomb can have a two-fold effect. We are also partnering with food-donation programs, arts education groups and PPE-making networks to pair Joy Bomb activations with services for the community.
How does your money help?
Your donation provides funding to cover the cost of transportation for contraptions. It allows us to purchase the necessary equipment for safe Joy Bombs, including disinfectant, hand sanitizer and masks.
Beyond these necessary costs, the money we raise will help us pay all the artists involved. The arts industry has been one of the earliest and hardest-hit, and almost all of the independent artists we work with have lost all of their foreseeable income. We will use these funds to help our artists pay their bills, as we have no idea when it will be safe to engage in large-scale performances, festivals and theatrical productions in the future.
