Project Grateful

I am 17 years old. These three years, I have been struggling with my health. It didn't really seem like anything to be worried about, but I was wrong. I was just tired of being in and out of hospitals, missed classes, and just a complete sense of despair. I was told that if I did not get healthier, my life could be forever threatened and shortened. That was a wake up call. And from that moment on, I tried to wake up every day and think of one thing that I was grateful for.
And I realized that I am grateful for my illness. Because it has opened my eyes, and pushed me to see what makes me happy. For this, I am forever grateful. I am also very grateful for wonderful friends that have supported me through this journey and helped shape  and bring this project to life.
My disease is not currently life threatening. But other children, innocent, beautiful children, are in a constant state of fear of losing their life. There are five us hoping to initiate a movement to make people realize that life is precious. 
We know we can make a change, but we need your help. In 2015, we raised $1,600 in order to buy 150 toys for children at Duke Hospital. We raised the funds through bake sales, candy grams, and personal donations. Thank you all for your help.
This year, our hope is to raise more money for underpiriviliged children in the Raleigh area from Haven House. In partnership with this at-risk shelter, we hope to bring small joys to children in our community. We  hope you join is in our journey of helping others and appreciating life.
