Project GRATITUDE (II): Help my dream come true!

Project GRATITUDE October 1st- Nov 5th 2012 (fundraising dates)


Dear Family and Friends,


This is a very special announcement and request I am excited to make! I will be having my first professional, solo art exhibition this November 2012! This concept GRATITUDE (II) (because it is the second version of this theme) is not just a series of paintings, but a dream I have had for years to use my art in a special way.


I am blessed to have parents, family and a community who has supported my interest in the arts all my life.  I have produced art in Washington DC, Bermuda, Accra Ghana and Southern California, ranging from murals, portraits, exhibition series, live event paintings and even book cover and tattoo designs. 


This road has been paved not by myself. It has been my dream to honor the countless members of my village who are in large part responsible for my success.  People who have complimented me, encouraged me, hired me, and most importantly believed in my potential.


Giving thanks is one of the most powerful actions we wield as human beings. We have a choice to be appreciative of the intricacies of life and color any outcome in a way that propels us forward.


GRATITUDE (II) allows me to share just that with ALL OF YOU. There are many significant players but EVERY SINGLE person has a role.


SO I NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS DREAM COME TRUE!  I have waited for so long for the "perfect time" and "perfect budget" to do this, but I have decided to step out on faith and follow my heart to make this a reality.


GRATITUDE (II) is a three part event throughout November 2012:


1.       LOS ANGELES- 1 week of the art displayed in Los Angeles. Hopefully for Downtown LA art walk (with an opening on THURSDAY NOVEMEBR 8TH ) (This component is contingent upon fundraising outcomes)

 

2.       POMONA (Inland Empire)- 2-3 weeks of the art displayed in Downtown Pomona at IE Photo Rentals and Gallery space with an opening at Pomona Art walk SAT., NOVEMBER 10TH)

 

3.       LAUNCH PARTY- A Launch party of the website at Machine Pomona  boutique and gallery, featuring several artists of the I.E. arts community (DJ, performances, catering [culinary art], clothing lines, and more) SAT., NOVEMBER 10TH  (Machine Pomona is just around the corner from IE Photo Rentals)


***Also a BONUS AFTER PARTY at the DJ set "Refresh" at the DBA Wine Bar nearby will follow the Launch Party.


YOUR SUPPORT WILL HELP ME TO:


-          FINE ART PRINTS $200-$500 (for about 100 copies)

Order Fine Art Prints of the Paintings from the Exhibit (of which I can provide to those being honored that evening, to supports of this campaign, and sell at affordable prices for those who want an art piece but cannot afford a painting. 50% of the proceeds of prints sold on Nov. 10th will go to the IE Photo Rentals and Machine Pomona galleries.)

 

-          DTLA GALLERY $200-400

Secure a gallery in Downtown Los Angeles during Art Walk

 

ART SUPPLIES to complete the paintings-  about $100- $150

 

-          CATERING & FOOD $250-$350 (ENOUGH FOR 80 PEOPLE)

Provide CATERING & FOOD for the Launch Party, by the very special artist Matanah of Rawlistic (raw vegan creations), a huge supporter of the Machine Pomona gallery $250-$350

-          

-          OTHER OVERHEAD costs- $300

Fliers, other food/drink items, recognition or performing artist and team members running this campaign, and incidentals I may foresee at this time)


GENERAL GOAL: $1,500.00


Money raised over goal will provide additional art prints for future exhibition and sale.

*Also on the wish list is anyone who has access to a gallery in Downtown Los Angeles! I'm still hunting!*


$5.00 IS ALL I AM ASKING.


Also other giving levels provide AMAZING benefits. If 100 people give $5- $25 I will be there! BUT THIS SHOW IS HAPPENING NO MATTER WHAT. Even if I raise $10.00 we will still be at both galleries in Pomona with this art; as much of it as I can make! This is the time, but I hope you can help me to make this all I envision it to be.
