Project Right to Housing Fundraiser

Donation protected
Help support Project Right to Housing (PR2H), an organization aiming to make Cambridge a Housing First city! All donations will be used to support dinners and other programming for the unhoused community, educational events, upcoming literature drops, and other projects that address housing justice in Cambridge.

We are a group of organizers who believe that in a city as wealthy as Cambridge, no individual should experience homelessness or housing insecurity. We believe that Cambridge can become a true Housing First city. However, charity, non-profits, and the housing market alone will not make this vision a reality. That's why we have embarked on a political mission to raise public awareness and hold our elected city council officials and the unelected City Manager accountable to the unhoused, under-housed, displaced, evicted, and struggling residents of Cambridge.

We have organized literature drops to 2300+ households, engaged 100+ community members to give public comment at city council meetings, and organized solidarity dinners at the non-congregate Green Street Shelter. Our work has been endorsed by Boston DSA, Boston Sunrise, Cambridge DSA and MAMAS.

How does your donation help?

The Green Street Shelter is currently the only non-congregate shelter in Cambridge. Unlike congregate shelters, where guests usually share bathrooms, common spaces, and bedrooms, non-congregate shelters provide all guests with individual rooms. Previous fundraisers have supported multiple dinners and arts programming at the shelter. This fundraiser will help us continue these initiatives through the fall.

Literature drops are events during which members of the community help spread literature created by PR2H about the housing first model and current initiatives in Cambridge to help the unhoused community. This fundraiser will help cover printing costs for upcoming literature drops.

Additionally, this fundraiser will support educational events that stand in solidarity with the unhoused community and help educate Cambridge on the importance of a Housing First model. Past and upcoming events include a webinar on the Medical Perspective on Housing First, a community picnic where unhoused artists were invited to show their work, and our Cambridge City Council Candidate Forum for the Unhoused (happening September 26th).
