Playground Reconstruction

My name is Sterling Rodas and my community project is called “Project Reconstruction”. My goal is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for the younger siblings of my fellow peers. I'm part of a program called Next Generation Scholars (NGS) that helps students become the first in their families to go to college.
Many of my peers have to help their parents, who work multiple jobs, by taking care of their younger siblings. Since the students' parents work long hours to support their families, they have to bring their younger siblings with them to the center. Right now, these kids don't have a fun and safe place to play, so they are stuck in the center waiting for their siblings. Oftentimes, they get so bored that they bother their older siblings who are trying to focus on assignments or just get ignored.
These kids need a place to go. With the money I raise, I will create a fun place for them to play and learn. I will construct a swing set so they can have fun, and a painting area so that they can learn to draw and expand their imagination. With these new additions to the center, the students at NGS will be able to have a clear mind without having to worry about their younger siblings being bored or causing trouble.
