Hi friends,
It’s time for Project Pot Pie 2018! Where Sam Carlson, Rockstars and Babies, The Girls Scouts (with extra special help from troops 5425 and 925), and friends make and deliver over 1,000 vegetarian hot pot pies and blessing bags to the homeless. Please take a look at this Link to see how it all started 18 years ago in a tiny kitchen without a full sized oven and how it got to be where it is now! WOW!
Rockstars and Babies (AKA Jessica Daschner Walker and Tim Walker) are trying to raise money so that we can make as many blessing bags as possible (we will make at least 1,000 and would like to make them awesome)!
The Girl Scouts are donating between 100-200 blessing bags this year with items they have collected all year long!
Sam joined this project 6 years ago and took it under her wings 4 years ago when she chose to make it her “Silver Award Project”! Today, she has many Girl Scout troops involved as she made it into a service project for them. Thanks to her organizing and amazing efforts, RockStars and Babies are raising money for gift bags and not needing to raise money for the pot pie ingredients!
Making 1,000+ blessing bags is an expensive endeavor! Every bag will contain at the very least a pair of socks, a bottled water, a bag of chips, and a healthy snack of some sort. Our aim is to also be able to include as many snacks and toiletries as possible. (cleansing wipes, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc...) We will also be making some feminine bags that will include pads and/or tampons in them.
For both the pies and the bags we need copy paper boxes and lots of them!! If you can or know someone that can donate them in the LA area it would be huge. We are hoping not to have to purchase boxes. They are the perfect size, keep our pies insulated and we know just how many pies and bags we can fit into them (plus they are the perfect size without being too heavy or bulky to load and deliver in).
If you have or know of anyone with a surplus of toiletries, snacks, or copy paper boxes please let us know! Rockstars and Babies are setting up this Go Fund Me account to help raise money for the blessing bags, a Uhaul for delivery to Skid Row and any surplus expenses (boxes, commercial oven, etc) that go along with the day! Please help if you can.
