The Story:
As a US-based custom furniture company, we asked ourselves how we could leverage our resources to help in the wake of COVID-19. Our medical professionals across the nation are suffering from a shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is essential to treat patients. Over the last few days, our industrial designers have shifted their mindset from mid-century to pre-cautionary to develop open source Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) resources.
The Focus:
In partnership with the San Joaquin General Hospital in Northern California, we’ve identified 3 primary areas of focus: Masks, Face Shields, and Containment. Our goal is to enable our community at large to help keep each other & themselves safe by doing what they can, where they can, with the tools at hand. Our primary intention is to openly distribute simple design & manufacturing guidelines to everyday people & local small businesses that have the basic tools at hand to make a difference. That said, since we’ve started to share the Open Source tools, we’ve received many inquiries from health organizations across the U.S. that have requested some of the basic PPE we’re able to produce.
Donations:
Any requests that we have received to produce PPE are being done at pure cost of materials and we are not taking a profit. Any donation given here, will go directly towards a general fund that any medical facility that reaches out to us will be able to tap into in lieu of paying for material cost.
