<div>Was passiert, wenn KI-Agenten in Minecraft selbst entscheiden dürfen?

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>So entstand Project Genesis</strong>.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Die Idee

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Persönlichkeit

</div>

<div>-Erinnerungen

</div>

<div>-Erfahrungen

</div>

<div>-Bedürfnissen

</div>

<div>-Beziehungen

</div>

<div>-veränderlichen Zielen haben.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Dabei möchte ich möglichst wenig vorgeben.

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>Wo steht Project Genesis heute?</strong>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Momentan arbeite ich an den Grundlagen:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Wahrnehmung

</div>

<div>-Navigation

</div>

<div>-Interaktion mit der Welt

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>Warum 200 €?</strong>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Bisher finanziere ich das Projekt selbst.

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div>Zusätzliche Spenden sollen in weitere Entwicklungs- und API-Kosten fließen.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>Ein offenes Experiment</strong>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div>Was dieser Agent anschließend tatsächlich macht, entscheidet weiterhin er selbst.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>Wohin führt das Experiment?</strong>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Das weiß ich nicht.

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div>Was sie daraus machen, sollen sie möglichst selbst entscheiden.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>———————————————————-

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>What happens when AI agents in Minecraft are allowed to make their own decisions?

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Hello, my name is Janik, I’m 32 years old and I actually work as a carpenter. In my free time, I’m a passionate sim racer and PC gamer, and for some time now I’ve been especially fascinated by the development of artificial intelligence.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>One of my biggest inspirations was Project Sid – a research project in which AI agents lived together in a Minecraft world and developed social structures.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>That gave me an idea: What happens if you start an experiment like this yourself and try to give the individual agents as much freedom as possible over their own decisions?

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>**That’s how Project Genesis was born.**

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The Idea

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>My goal is to create a persistent Minecraft world with as many independent AI agents as possible.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>In the long term, each agent should be an individual with their own:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Personality

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Memories

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Experiences

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Needs

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Relationships

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Changing goals

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I want to predetermine as little as possible.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The agents should decide for themselves what they do and who they interact with.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>They can cooperate, trade, share, steal, fight, or completely avoid each other.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I want to create the conditions and observe what the agents themselves make of them.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>**Where is Project Genesis today?**

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The project is still in an early stage of development.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>A local Minecraft Java server is already running and the first agent exists.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>It can perceive the world, move around in it, make decisions, and perform actions independently.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>At the moment, I’m working on the fundamentals:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Perception

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Navigation

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Interaction with the world

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>-Recognizing whether its actions were actually successful or not.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Only when these fundamentals work reliably can the agents become more complex and independently operate over the long term.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>**Why €200?**

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>So far, I have been funding the project myself.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>During development, I work extensively with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Codex, and I regularly reach the usage limits of my current plan.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>That’s why I have deliberately set the first funding goal at just: €200

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The money will initially go toward more powerful AI tools for development.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The next step will be to use AI models via an API, allowing multiple agents to make more complex decisions independently of one another.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I don’t want to simply make assumptions about how expensive it will actually be to run multiple agents.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>As soon as I have real usage data, I will publish it.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Any additional donations will go toward further development and API costs.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>**An Open Experiment**

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I want to document the development as transparently as possible – including the failures.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Progress, interesting events between the agents, technical problems, and the actual use of donated funds will be shared regularly.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>For larger contributions, I would also like to offer the possibility in the future, if the project’s development allows it, to suggest a name and personality traits for a future agent.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>What that agent actually does afterward will still be up to the agent itself.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Future access to the world for supporters and the possibility of trying Project Genesis on your own PC are also goals – but at this point, they are not guaranteed rewards.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>**Where Will the Experiment Lead?**

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I don’t know.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>And that’s exactly what Project Genesis is about.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>We create the world and give the agents the abilities they need.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>What they make of it should, as much as possible, be up to them.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>If you want to find out where this experiment leads, you can support Project Genesis with a donation or by sharing the campaign.
