Hi family and friends near and far,
I am working on a new piece titled, “Dear,” that will be presented at the International Human Rights Art Movement Festival this September 27th at Court Square Theater. This work is showcased within a curated performance titled, “Assigned at Birth” by sarAikamovement Collective. This piece explores themes of sexuality and identity inspired by ideologies of Carl Jung and Kenji Yoshino.
The dancers participating are Sadi Weir, Zoey Barnes, and Natalia Nitkin. We have been in process since late July and will be workshopping and creating until the festival. My intention is to continue to develop these segments in later projects and shows, as they are setting the foundation for a longer production.
I am seeking support to help cover studio expenses, paying the dancers a sufficient hourly rate, as well as providing an appropriate performance stipend for their time, commitment, and efforts in this project.
These dancers are the center point of bringing this art to life and I want to ensure they are compensated and taken care of in all the ways they deserve.
I thank you in advance for any contribution, no matter how small. A little goes a long way and we are the utmost grateful for you taking a moment to uplift this process.
A fellow friend and artist,
Lo Poppy
