Today, I am bringing to you a very special video from my journey to Thailand! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Treasure and I am a young Hmong woman who was born and raised in California, USA. The United States is all i know and I've never really been out of the country. Growing up and hearing stories about how my people came to live in America, I was always fascinated and determined to go back to Laos and Thailand to see and visit these places my family has always told me about. Recently I was given the opportunity to travel to Thailand this past February to go back and explore my roots, culture, and visit my people for the first time ever. While on my journey in Thailand, I met up with one of our acquaintances there named Yia Lee. He is a Hmong Electrical Engineer living in Bangkok but he was born and raised in the tiny hmong village of Monya (Maumnyab) far up in the mountains of Thailand past Chiang Mai. His hometown has a small preschool that fails to receive any significant amounts of funding simply because the village is too far up. By the time the money has been sent from the government to split within the districts, the preschool is left with barely anything to help the children out. Over the past 11 years the principal at the school, Principal Aree, was finally able to save enough funds to build a proper building for the children to utilize, but unfortunately there are not enough funds to build a fence! After building the preschool house for the children to use, she has been slowly saving money to build a fence and make doing with what she has by building fences with sticks and branches. Year after year the fence rots, and a new fence must be made. Last year, two men who are complete strangers outside of the school has been lurking and entering the school causing all of the teachers to be alarmed and fear for the safety of the children who are only 2 - 4 years old! All of the teachers are women and one teacher even sleeps at the school to watch over the preschool and the strangers entering has become such a concern that we have come together to try to raise funds so that we can help build the fence quicker to ensure the safety of our children and teachers! We are trying to raise money in order to help out that preschool to build that fence to further protect our children!! The children are so beautiful and deserve all of the protection that we can provide and thanks to many generous donors, we have almost met our goal! I'm now coming forward and asking for help from our loving and generous supporters here! We only need $2000 left in order to complete our goal and finally put up that fence for our children. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity. I have faith that we can come together and help those who are in need. I have learned so much in Thailand and this life changing opportunity has opened my eyes about how I see the World. Join me on my journey to help make a change.
