Help us help the future generations with the #BecauseICan School Programme

As part of the Project Dakar 2023 initiative, we are utilising the story to support the future generations with free speaking events.

Your donations help us travel the length and breath of the country to delivery these free talks to students.

As a result of recent circumstances, young people are being described as the forgotten generation.

Project Dakar's aim is to reach as many young people as possible and prove that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We aim to deliver inspirational talks and workshops to schools and universities across the country.  

As a slightly eclectic team working forwards a Dakar 2023 finish, our stories bring examples of resilience, goal setting, determination, coping with mental and physical health, and a strength to fight on. Presentations are lively, engaging and delivered in a relatable way.

The What: To compete in the toughest rally in the world by racing 10 000km alone across the desert. 
The Why: To prove that with the right #BecauseICan mindset, partnerships and training you can achieve anything.

The Riders: 

Vanessa Ruck aka The Girl On A Bike – following a 7 year recovery with 7 surgeries including a reconstructed shoulder and hip, Vanessa is on a mission to prove anything is possible, even with a slightly reconstructed body. Discovering bikes during her recovery she’s since finished Red Bull Romaniacs.

Tim Bradshaw - former Intelligence Officer Tim is a man on a mission. Battling years of mental health challenges, Tim takes great pleasure in setting himself huge goals to both strive for a better version of himself with every day but also to raise awareness for the challenges he and many others face. Such as attempting to summit Mount Everest, next, it’s Dakar!

Every £2500 raised enables us to take the team to a school or university and deliver a workshop on problem solving and dealing with stressful environments. 

For every corporate booking we receive for these workshops, we will also deliver a free workshop to a school of their choice. #BecauseICan
