Indeed 2020 has been a tough year for many, but we can't underestimate the impact that it has had on the already marginalised in various communities in Nigeria. We can't deny the reality that for some they already believe that there would be nothing Merry about this Christmas and this is why project 50smiles came up. I am an advocate for long term impact but that in no way diminishes the need to reach out to people in their pain and meet their pressing needs.
How do we intend to find these individuals?
- We would get people to nominate families they believe have had a rough patch and could really use this Christmas gift via a google form link that would be shared on "Project 50 smiles" team members instagram handles, nomination link would be shared on the 1st of December. The first 50 families would be selected. However, if we are able to raise funds in excess of the current budget we would accommodate more families.
If you are getting this message it is because we would like for you to partner with us on this drive to spread the spirit of Christmas to 50 indigent families in Lagos.
The goal is to gift each family with a hamper worth 20,000naira each, which is equivalent to about £34 . The Christmas love box would contain:
- 1* 10kg bag of rice
- 1* 2litres Cooking oil
- Tin Tomatoes, and a spice box
- 1 pack of frozen chicken parts.
- 6 * whole wheat pasta
- 1 * crate of 12 eggs
- 2 * Yam tubers
- A bottle of non alcoholic wine ( to make their Christmas meal indeed merry )
- A christmas message
Any amount you can gift would be sincerely appreciated. You can also choose to sponsor a family or two.
