We are a small theater group with big plans: in March 2019, we plan to perform Abe Koogler's play, KILL FLOOR, in the FlexBox Theater at Art House Productions in Jersey City. We plan four performances in this brand new theater space--and hope to help jump-start the arts scene in the warehouse district!
KILL FLOOR tells the story of a small town mother and son caught in the vise of our relentless, exploitative consumer culture--exemplified in the institution of the modern slaughterhouse. Will Andy, a mother returning from five years in prison, be able to reconnect with her son, under the pressure to make money by any means offered? Not just an analysis of slaughterhouses and animal exploitation--it's also about the human exploitation built into the system we have created.
We need funds for insurance, set-building, space rental, and costumes. Our play is a labor of love, and our group is all-volunteer. Your support will help us to create a top-notch dramatic performance, and bring important conversations about meat, consumerism, class, gender, and race to the Jersey City community and beyond.
