I want to say thank you to each and every person who donated towards the first Pro-Choice billboard in Sydney!
Without all of you, this would not have happened!
We are hoping to continue to have the billboard up for another month... with your assistance.
We are on the lookout for a permanent location, if anyone has any ideas, please reach out and let us know!
To keep the billboard up another month, we have increased the amount of our GoFundMe goal, to cover the cost:
950.00 + hst = 1092.50
We think that keeping this billboard up is important to represent another voice in this area.

Thank you for supporting this effort to establish a Pro-Choice billboard in Sydney.
In recent months, lawmakers in several US states have passed legislation banning abortions. This growing movement also aims to penalize the doctors who perform abortions. In Canada, abortions are safe and legal; while not always easily accessible. Canada’s procedures around abortion are currently governed by medical standards, not by political will. Canada does not have ‘settled law’ around abortion, such as: Roe vs. Wade in the US.
As recently as last year (2018), one of Canada’s major political parties held a vote at their annual convention to REOPEN the debate regarding access to abortion. Thankfully, this vote was defeated; although only by a slim margin of under 10 votes. The leader of this party has publicly and proactively courted the anti-choice movement. With this clear and present threat to the current status quo, we must remain diligent in protecting the rights of Canadians to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions. The decision must remain between a patient and their doctor.
We think that now is an appropriate time to have a Pro-Choice message visibly displayed in a high-traffic area of Sydney. There are a few anti-choice signs throughout the Island, and a message of support to those who have made/are thinking of making/or would like to have the choice available to them is long overdue.
All money raised will go directly to the funding of a billboard placement for one month in Sydney. If this campaign is successful, further research will be done to explore options for installing more permanent signage throughout the CBRM. The image for the billboard is in the process of being designed and will be shared here when finalized.
