Prison Yoga & Meditation Thanks You!

Prior to the pandemic, Prison Yoga + Meditation had reached more than 5,000 men, women, and LGBTQ individuals in five County, State, and Federal jails and prisons in the greater Los Angeles area.
Since the pandemic, with 2M+ prisoners locked in cells without such programs, PY+M has not stopped efforts to reach prisoners with yoga and meditation.
Why? Yoga and meditation help prisoners heal from trauma and soothe the desperation, loneliness, isolation, and hopelessness of prison so they can restore their families and go on to live productive lives.
Numerous studies show that yoga and meditation practices reduce psychological distress and increase physical and psychological wellness among jail/prison inmates by improving sleep, reducing anxiety, anger and hostility, thereby increasing self-esteem.
Prisoners who engage in yoga and meditation practices are more likely to correct behaviors related to offending (like impulsivity, aggression, and substance abuse) and seek treatments that reduce criminal behavior. As a result, prisoners who practice yoga during incarceration are less likely to reoffend after their release.
Our book “PRISON YOGA + MEDITATION: Relieve Suffering, Heal from Trauma, Experience Inner Peace” is a way to reach thousands of prisoners nationwide.
“PRISON YOGA + MEDITATION” includes 250 photographed yoga poses and 25 unique sequences from varied disciplines to allow prisoners the opportunity to practice and progress at their own pace from beginner to advanced, as well as guided meditation, breathing meditations, a brief history of yoga, how to avoid injuries, and many other tools for a complete yoga journey that is specific to prison life.
Your tax-deductible donation will go directly and ONLY into our publishing fund.
Read what prisoners have told us:
  • Being incarcerated, doing yoga is the only time I feel like a human being. Rachel, serving three years in county jail.
  • Yoga is peace in an unpeaceful place. Max, serving a federal sentence.
  • Yoga is the only time I feel alive. Robbie, serving life in state prison.
Your generosity matters!
Prisoners thank us with tears in their eyes and expressions of disbelief that anyone on the outside cares about them.
Are you one of those caring people? Helping prisoners helps all of society.
Thank you from the PY+M team and from all of the prisoners!
