Help brave Poppy see her family

Donation protected
Poppy and her mum Kim are a mother and daughter team like no other.  Poppy is currently in the intensive care unit at Kings Hospital recovering from a multi-organ transplant.  In September after 11 months of waiting on the transplant list Poppy got  her call and received a life saving transplant of 5 organs, including a new bowel and liver.

Prior to the transplant Poppy was living on borrowed time, she was permanently in hospital fighting infection after infection, totally dependent on intravenous nutrition, it was through her mum's total dedication and Poppy's strong will that she kept going over and over when the odds were stacked against her.  The call when she got it could not have come soon enough and thanks to the amazing expertise of the surgeons at Kings and the wonderful gift of her donor family Poppy got through surgery and was given the gift of life.

The post transplant journey was never going to be straightforward for a little girl as sick and complex as Poppy.  Two months after her life saving surgery she has been bouncing between intensive care and the high dependency unit.   While her new organs are working really well the infections she had on board prior to surgery are proving difficult to shift and the complexity of the surgery has meant that she has a pressure dressing on her open abdomen as it will take a while before the surgeons will be able to fully close the wound.

All this time Kim has been at Poppy's side, caring for her and reassuring her.  Kim has been separated from her family back home in Blackpool for months, Coral, Poppy's little sister rarely sees her mum and relies on skype to chat to her.  Kim's partner, Jay is juggling work commitments with trying to support her from a long distance.

Travelling to the hospital for precious family time is so important but so expensive so these opportunities are limited.

Kim and her family are an inspiration to many other parents of children with complex needs, she is always there for us and we want to do something for her.  It is looking highly likely that she and Poppy will be in hospital over Christmas.  We really want to give the family a chance to see eachother more often and to have a Christmas together without worrying about the pennies.

We have decided to put together this Gofundme campaign to help Kim and her family pay for train fares, petrol and accomodation so that they can spend time together.  Please help us help this fabulous family and give Poppy precious time with her sister.
