After the events of this year, many Prides were certain they would have to cancel, leaving the communities they represented without any celebration. Isolation has hit everyone this year, especially those in rural areas, and especially LGBT+ people. Because none of these Prides had the resources to get by alone, in the spirit of community we have banded together to bring you the best online Pride festival that the west has to offer!
It will feature panels on LGBT+ topics with perspectives from new-comers and experts in the community, tutorials on everything from dance to cooking, and some show stopping performances featuring drag queens, musicians, and artists from every county.
The importance of this event cannot be overstated. Covid-19 has given most a taste of the isolation that people in rural Ireland suffer daily. That isolation is magnified tenfold for those in the LGBT+ community who even now may still be in outright hostile environments. This event is another example of the LGBT+ community doing its best to come together and provide the solace that only we as a community know how to. And Prides this year need your help.
What will we be spending money on?
Performance acts, streaming equipment, advertising, and leftovers will help keep us afloat for another year.
All funds raised will be put towards entertainment and the correct equipment to stream what is guaranteed to be a lively and exciting virtual pride experience. We've got some of the finest talents in the West - and indeed in Ireland - waiting to put on a fantastic show.
The money will help us, hopefully, to reach people who maybe have never been to Pride before, people who can't go in person, or people who have always gone in person and now feel the space left behind without a yearly Pride.
If you support the LGBT community, please consider lending some support to celebrating the most isolated and rural among us.
