Promote EQUALITY and INCLUSION at one of the world's largest sporting events by supporting 2018 Pride House Gold Coast!

We've secured enough money to open the doors but we need YOUR support to ensure that Australia's first EVER Pride House offers real support to the community and creates a lasting legacy.

WHAT IS PRIDE HOUSE

2018 Pride House Gold Coast will be the first ever Pride House to be hosted in Australia and will be a welcoming place to view the GC2018 Commonwealth Games competition, meet like-minded people and engage in a range of fun and thought-provoking activities in a safe space. The space will aim to create awareness about homophobia in sport through education and to promote inclusion and equality for LGBTIQ+ people throughout the Commonwealth and the globe.

Modelled after a traditional Olympic hospitality house, a Pride House is a space welcoming Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, and "Other" (LGBTIQ+) athletes, fans, and their allies during large-scale international sporting events. Most recently, Pride Houses have been hosted at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

With the assistance of our venue partners Rise Bar & Club as well as a small number of soon-to-be-announced sponsors, we've been able to raise enough money to open the doors for the entirety of the Games - but we still need financial assistance to create a kick-ass program and provide relevant support services for those in need.

Funds will be used to support a LGBTIQ+ "Pride House" safe and inclusive space during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

A LGBTIQ+ Pride House originated from the traditional Hospitality House concept that is common at Olympics and other Games. Hospitality Houses are places to attend to support your country with like-minded others. Pride House is a similar concept but centred on the LGBTI+ community.

Pride Houses have become a regular fixture. They are viewed as providing a valuable contribution to the fabric of international major events with significant positive outcomes and media interest. This will be the first time that Australia will hold a Pride House International.

Members of the local LGBTI+ community on the Gold Coast have proposed a similar concept for a Pride House to be held on the Gold Coast in April next year at the time of the Commonwealth Games. The local Pride House will be hosted at an existing hospitality venue, Rise Bar in Surfers Paradise from March 28 until April 15, 2018. LGBTIQ+ individuals and their allies will be able to enjoy the Commonwealth Games with other like-minded individuals in a safe and inclusive environment.

The program is planned to include an Exhibition of Australian LGBTIQ+ “Trailblazers” comprised of individuals who have been leaders in the fight for equality. The entire spectrum of the LGBTIQ+ rainbow will be included in this Exhibition.

The program of Events planned will highlight a separate issue daily relating to each letter from the LGBTIQ+ Community. The aim is to raise awareness and education on important topics such as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Youth, Legal and Mental Health issues.
