Connor's Medical Fund

Connor Lorenz was born with a congenital heart defect known as Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. After his birth he underwent 2 open heart surgeries one at 4 days old and his second at 5 months old. Even with these surgeries his heart was to weak to keep his body functioning, and required a heart transplant which he received at 10 months old. After he received his new heart, Connor and Riley gained a new sibling Landon, and our family became a family of 5. Connor loves school and truly is always happy and smiling. Things were going great with Connor until October when Connor suffered a seizure that caused him to cardiac arrest. He was flown to U of M hospital and received amazing care and we left a week later for home, 2 weeks later Connor seized again at school but recovered fast and was only at U of M for 3 days. On Christmas night me and Matt checked his INR (blood thinner level) at home and it was extremely high, we were then sent to U of M to get his levels back in check and we seized for the 3rd time while at U of M, this was short and he recovered fast from it. His fourth seizure happened 2 days after his 3rd one and this caused him to go into cardiac arrest. Connor received chest compressions for an hour and half while the ECMO team was getting him ready to be hooked up to the heart and lung bypass machine. Jan 2nd Connor went to the Cath lab to have his heart looked at and it was discovered that his left main coronary artery was extremely narrowed and needed to have a stent put in place to keep it open. In all the years that u of m has been doing childrens heart transplant they have never seen coronary artery diasese progress this much to the point of a child needing a stent put into place of a major CA. They believe this is what was causing his seizure like symptoms and they hope that the stent will by Connor time until he receives his second heart transplant which he will be placed on the list on jan 12th 2018. While Connor is waiting for his new heart he needs to be in the hospital the whole time.
