Prez Vicki’s Lyme Disease Treatment

This has been quite a challenging year for our precious Pavlatos family!
Father Timothy is one of the most beloved spiritual fathers in this country. Both Fr. and Prez have been quite the Orthodox power couple for over the last 23 years of ministry. They have dedicated their lives to teaching, supporting and spiritually advising all those they come in contact with; in and out of the church. They literally have become parents to so many of us.
About a year ago, Presvytera Vicki started having severe pain and losing motor control on the right side of her body. Initially she thought the pain may have been shingles. Her symptoms began to worsen, affecting her walking, cognitive impairment, and causing cardiac symptoms. She immediately went to the doctor and was referred to a neurologist for what they thought was rapidly progressing MS. After enduring months of invasive testing she was referred to another neurologist, who was an MS specialist and former professor at Penn State. The neurologist realized that her brain lesions were not consistent with MS and did more testing. The test results came back positive for Lyme disease.
Unfortunately her physical symptoms had become so severe that she had to close her photography studio, because she could no longer physically hold her camera or keep up with the demands of her business. This was devastating, as she had become an International award winning photographer who is so passionate about her work. This took not only a financial toll but a huge emotional toll on her and the family.
Their two older children moved back to Oregon in order to help out Fr.Timothy and their seven younger siblings. There is a reason they call Prez Wonder Woman! To see her disintegrate physically and emotionally has been devastating.
Father Timothy eventually had to resign a few months ago as Director of the Family Wellness Ministry in order to help out at home.
After much prayer they made the decision to sell their home, and take a year off in order to attend to their family and for Prez to start her treatment.
Prez will spend the next year doing an intensive treatment protocol of antibiotics and immunotherapy. Unfortunately, the disease went on for quite a long time before being diagnosed. We are praying that the damage that has been done will be reversed so she can be restored in health, and able to care for her family and all of the beautiful parishioners in her life.
Father Timothy, Prez Victoria and their beautiful nine children have devoted their lives to God and the church and they have done so without ever complaining. The sale of their home will not be enough to cover their expenses for the year and for her medical treatment.
I know many of us would not be where we are today without them. They need our help and they will never ask for it! Thank you for loving them and supporting them! Please continue to pray for them over this next year of uncertainty, and for the healing of our beloved Pres Victoria.
