Prevent My Mother's Foreclosure

My mother, Barbara Wester, has an immediate and urgent need for help.

Her house is going into foreclosure. This house was purchased in 2012, and she has made payments on it faithfully since.

However, in October of 2014, she was laid off of her job in California and moved back to Georgia. She was able to collect unemployment benefits for a time, but soon, this was exhausted. She put in many applications and had several interviews, but has been unable to get a job in her field, manufacturing, despite 30+ years experience. 

She had to take a job in retail, just to make ends meet, working at barely above minimum wage, which barely covers her utility bills and groceries. My sister also worked, and my wife and I helped where we could. She was supported by receiving Social Security survivors benefits from my father, who passed away in 2011. 

However, this year, because of her job in retail, the governement revoked her survivors benefits, as they deemed that she was making too much.  She was using this money to pay her mortgage, and removing this reduced her down to making barely more than $1,000 dollars a month total. 

In addition, my sister was working, but has had a flare up of her Crohn's disease in the past few months, putting her on a leave of absence and effectively cutting their household income in half. She has returned to work in the past few weeks, but this has not been enough to catch up on the mortgage payments. 

My mother has been given a reinstatement letter from the bank to pay $4,857.24 to prevent foreclosure of our childhood home. She has received $1500.00 dollars from other sources, so she only needs roughly $3500 dollars to pay the reinstatement. 

However, the deadline is August 17th, just 10 days away.

My mom was hesitant to even ask for help, as she is embarrased that she has been unable to prevent this loss on her own. After much pressure from my siblings and I, she has agreed to let me start this GoFundMe in order to attempt to prevent this terrible loss. 

Those of you who know her, know that she is a hardworking woman who has sacrificed everything to provide a better life for her family. If all of her friends would give just a small amount, we could raise this money without issue.
