Greetings all, around the 1890’s the African American community in College Park, GA was situated in ONE SQUARE MILE west of Main St. This community was thriving and economically self-sustainable with businesses. In the late '70s and early '80s, these citizens were uprooted due to the purchase of their land by the Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport. The homes and businesses were destroyed and the families were displaced. The only remnants of this once vibrant community are Price’s Barbershop, the adjacent house, Bussey’s Store, Brady’s Gym, three churches, College View Cemetery and a few residential homes.

We are raising funds to preserve the oral, written and photographic heritage and history of this once-thriving community. The ultimate objectives are to purchase HISTORICAL MARKERS to display this rich history and to utilize the Price Barbershop building and the adjacent house to create a museum. We hope to capture information relating to schools, churches, professionals and military people, outstanding athletes, civic, political and educational leaders, as well as artists, businesses and more. All donations are welcome and needed!
